2011 Gown Progress

Just some beading on the Under-Bodice Front to go, but the pattern is now available (click here).

A level of the gown's 'makingness' can be revealed depending on the degree of sheerness in the fabric one uses.

As you see through this coarse silk net, millinery wires stabilize the texture in the bodice fronts. The appearance of such was not undesirable in my version, but others may not prefer its effect.

(Also keep in mind factors such as zipper tapes and seam allowances. More often than not, these are not desirable to see through transluscent fabrics.)

This silk net narrow hems like a dream...

Spreading the Joy!

Roberta (yet another generous customer) at Treadle Yard Goods in St. Paul, MN sent original patterns to me to avail to everyone. These are just three of the lot I received yesterday:

(I KNOW of whom everyone thinks when seeing the model at right on this one!)

A little coat dress style from 1953.

I LOVE the wide midriff with the sash over it! Also, it is very interesting that only one skirt gore piece is given as the same shape makes it all the way around.
