Dear Alexandra, Words are lacking to express my admiration for such a masterpiece!!! You've truly created something striking, original, beautiful and amazing. I hope this dress will end up its life in a museum where it can be admired for years and years!
I just purchased this patterns and I'm very excited to try it. I have a black corset already and I am debating using it OR using this as a good excuse to make another one. When you choose measurements for the corset, should I choose my actual waist size or my corsetted waist size. I usually loose 1.5" - 2" when corsetted.
Also, do you recommend shortening the wings? It looks like you wings might drag on the ground a little. If I were going to wear this for a few hours at a convention or a costume party, this would be a problem, I think.
ajpiffle, There are markings on the pattern for shortening the wings as this is entirely for one's preference. Please let me know if you need help with it as you go through the process.
As far as corset size to choose, go by your un-corseted waist measure. Of course, going through a muslin version of the corset will help confirm correct size in addition to any unique adjustments to be made per your figure. : )
